Terrence J And Rocsi of 106th & Park just announced that after 7 straight years that they will be leaving the show. The pair took over after the original hosts AJ & Free. Once AJ & Free were released B.E.T. tried out several hosts including Big Tigger, Julissa, even plus sized model Tocarra did a short stint on the show. The executives eventually settled on a new male/female team of Terrence & Rocsi. Since their start they've been able to consume several opportunities as a result. They both do radio shows, Rocsi's is syndicated, Terrence's is with Khloe Kardashian out of Miami. Terrence is seeing a lot of success with his role in "Think Like A Man" based off the book written by Steve Harvey. Terrence was quoted as saying "This, by no stretch of the imagination, was an easy decision, but it's the right one.". The question is now, what becomes of the only show left that plays music or music videos? Will B.E.T. continue with new hosts, guest hosts or shut the show down all together. Terrence and Rocsi will stay put for the time being to take a "victory lap" building up to their departure. This will be another end of an era. I just hope B.E.T. won't let the music die.
I had to share this with ya'll. This is my dude Lyric Dior dropping his mixtape #LateNightsEarlyMornings hosted by yours truly. Download the mixtape here:
Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested at LaGuardia airport this afternoon for misdemeanor possession of a weapon. He was accosted by TSA while going through the scanners for possessing brass knuckles. 2 Chainz was headed to North Carolina to do a show when the item was discovered in his carry-on luggage. He was being detained until they found out what they thought was a set brass knuckles turned out to be a four finger ring from the company Dope Couture. Dope Couture owner Matte Fields tweeted that he just spoke with 2 Chainz camp and the homie was released. Guess it was a good thing he wasn't wearing a hoodie too, it could have been tragic!
DMX is back with a vengance. His first offering was a dope track with MGK (Machine Gun Kelly) called I don't dance. The collabo was unexpected but definitely a hot track. X has been on Couples Therapy lately with his wife, Tasheera Simmons, trying to fix their dis-functional relationship. Meanwhile, he's been working on his upcoming album entitled "Undisputed" and trying to reclaim his seat at the top of the game. He's decided to release a mixtape prior to the album called "The Weigh-In". A dope title for the precursor to the album. His mixtape dropped today at 2p and here is the second offering called "Last Hope".
The classic tv show Hollywood Squares has been altered, tainted and regurgitated. The new show is called Hip Hop Squares featuring many artist involved in Hip Hop and urban culture period. It can either be really dope or really square. The first episode debuted last night but the video was pulled. However, we were able to obtain the pre-party Champagne toast with host Peter Rosenburg and several guest. Check out the vid!
Sad but true, we've lost another legend in the world of music. This one was a genius of a different kind. Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys died this morning (April 4th) from cancer of the Salivary Gland. Adam found out he had throat cancer in 2009. Since then he has been increasingly scarce from major events, tours etc. Even just a month ago the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Adam was missing from the induction. Just the third rap group ever in history to make it into the H.O.F. it's unfortunate that MCA passed just a month after the ceremony. For once, an artist had a chance to be alive to see such an award. Yauch was only 47 years young and founded the group in high school in 1979 as a punk band. They eventually morphed into one of the most respected and loved groups period. He was a very talented artist and director often directing the groups videos under the alias Nathaniel Hornblower. His interest in video led to him starting his own production company, Oscilloscope Laboratories, and shooting several documentaries. He will be missed here but respected eternally. R.I.P. Adam Yauch.
DJ Premier is one of the biggest names in the business. He launched a radio show on Sirius/XM and immediately had many listeners across the Globe. His show has been absent from the line up for weeks according to sources. He has been on tour and has had to miss too many shows himself which I'm sure that has been an issue. People didn't flock to the program to hear some fill in all the time. DJ Premier has said in the past that it was a contractual problem. Other sources say it's not the case.
