WMG Accused Of Illegally Selling Valuable Rap Songs And Keeping The Money
(AllHipHop News) Warner Music Group has been slapped with a lawsuit claiming it has been illegally selling and profiting off of downloads from DM Records, a Hip-Hop label that owns the copyrights to thousands of lucrative copyrights.
DM Records, which is based in North Miami Beach, Florida, owns the rights to various records by artists like Tupac Shakur, MC Breed, Jody Watley and Prince.
The label also counts Tag Team's hit single "Whoomp! There it Is!" and Duice's 1993 smash single "Dazzey Dukes" as copyrights the own and control.
The lawsuit claims that Ryko Distribution was the exclusive distributor of DM Records' music, until WMG acquired Ryko in 2006.
