JACKSON -- As Mississippi moves forward with announcements of 21st century high-tech manufacturers locating in the state, the Sons of the Confederate Veterans is making sure residents don't forget the state's 19th century Civil War heritage.
And the NAACP wants to make sure Mississippians don't forget the state's history of enslaving black families in back-breaking jobs.
Beginning this year, the state will spend five years commemorating the sesquicentennial of War Between the States with special license plates.
